BERLIN UNMAPPED is an international Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that invites young people from different European countries to discover Berlin from a fresh and creative perspective!
Through urban exploration, creative challenges, participatory mapping, photography, artistic expression and intercultural activities, participants will discover how cities can become spaces for inclusion, creativity, youth participation and active citizenship.
Together, we will explore four main topics:
But this exchange goes beyond discovering Berlin!
By bringing together young people from different European countries, we will exchange perspectives, compare our experiences and explore how our local realities connect with shared European values, opportunities and challenges.
Inspired by European Youth Goal #1 – Connecting EU with Youth, the project encourages young people to discover what European citizenship means in everyday life, strengthen their sense of belonging and recognise their potential to actively contribute to society.
Throughout the exchange, participants will work in international teams to create BERLIN UNMAPPED – The Youth City Atlas, an alternative youth map highlighting inspiring spaces, initiatives, opportunities and ideas for more inclusive, creative and participatory cities.
The project will conclude with a creative presentation of our discoveries and ideas, encouraging participants to take their experiences and inspiration back to their own communities.
Because being a young European citizen is not only about understanding Europe. It is about connecting with others, discovering opportunities, expressing your ideas and recognising that you have the power to shape the future.
Are you ready to discover Berlin from a different perspective and create your own map of possibilities?
To empower young people to become active participants in society by exploring Berlin’s urban environment, discovering opportunities for civic engagement and community involvement, and connecting their local experiences with the values, opportunities and responsibilities of European citizenship.
To encourage young people to explore how urban spaces promote or restrict social inclusion, accessibility and cultural diversity, strengthening their understanding of shared European values and their sense of belonging to an inclusive and diverse European community.
To equip young people with participatory mapping, observation, interviewing, digital storytelling and critical thinking skills, enabling them to investigate urban realities, identify opportunities for youth engagement and compare social challenges and good practices across European cities.
To inspire young people to discover how street art, cultural movements, creative expression and emerging youth trends can serve as tools for dialogue, identity-building and social transformation, while encouraging intercultural exchange and strengthening connections among young Europeans.
To empower young people to turn their urban exploration experiences into meaningful civic action by identifying opportunities for participation, developing creative ideas and practical solutions to social challenges, and taking initiative to build more inclusive, connected and participatory communities, both locally and across Europe.
